Insights and Innovations: A Comprehensive Overview of the Railway Supply Sector

Indian Railways has proudly welcomed its 500th Prima T8 WAG12B electric locomotive, part of an impressive order of 800 units from Alstom. This milestone is part of a €3.5 billion deal, with the Madhepura factory boasting a production capacity of 120 locomotives annually. Alstom has made meaningful strides in localizing production, achieving nearly 90% localization.

Alstom is also making waves in Germany by transferring its Görlitz facility to defense contractor KNDS. out of approximately 700 employees, around 580 will retain their jobs as KNDS gears up to manufacture components for Leopard tanks and Puma infantry vehicles. The transition will unfold gradually over the next few years,aiming for completion by 2027. Meanwhile, ongoing projects involving double-deck trains and trams will either continue at Görlitz or be moved elsewhere.

The leadership at Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group is shifting gears as Sandra Resch and Manfred Fitz step into the roles of joint Managing Directors starting April 1. Resch currently serves as Co-Managing Director while Fitz oversees international operations. CEO Thomas Bachhofner expressed confidence that this duo will enhance their service offerings for railway infrastructure projects efficiently and sustainably.
