SATS Partners with Guangtai: A New Era in Global Ground Support Solutions

SATS Airport Services Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of SATS Ltd.,which is renowned for its air cargo handling and food solutions across Asia,has teamed up with Weihai guangtai Airport Equipment Co ltd,a leading manufacturer of ground support equipment. On March 27, 2025, they signed an agreement to explore innovative technologies aimed at enhancing airport ground support services.

Over the next three years, this partnership will assess how well these new technologies perform in actual airport settings.A key focus will be on electric ground support equipment (GSE),ensuring it aligns with SATS’ operational needs. The first step involves testing a mid-size electric airtug created by guangtai that can push or tow medium-sized aircraft. This initiative marks an crucial shift towards a greener fleet for SATS.

SATS plans to collaborate closely with Guangtai’s engineering team to refine design and manufacturing processes for better reliability and maintenance ease. To further enhance its GSE procurement strategy, SATS is adopting a long-term capital expenditure management plan that focuses on consolidating supplier relationships with select GSE manufacturers. This approach aims to boost reliability while managing costs effectively as they rejuvenate their fleet in anticipation of future growth.
