The registry of Greek businesses has emerged stronger, as indicated by new registration data published by the Greek Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) for the fourth quarter of 2024.

According to the report, business registrations across all economic sectors for the year 2024 reached 132,507, marking an 18.3% increase compared to 112,002 in 2023.

The total number of business bankruptcies across all sectors of the economy reached 36 in the fourth quarter of 2024, marking a 34.5% decrease compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, when bankruptcies stood at 55.

Notably, the transport and storage sector exhibited the most significant growth in new registrations, with a 35.3% increase.

The data further details annual and quarterly trends, as well as the geographic distribution of businesses.
In terms of annual trends, the economic activities contributing the most to overall turnover saw varying degrees of growth and decline.

The transport and storage sector recorded the highest increase in new business registrations at 35.3%, followed by the construction sector at 17.3%.

In contrast, there was a notable decline in Greek businesses dealing in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sectors, which dropped by 26%, along with a decrease in the wholesale
