CMA CGM revises Mediterranean services

French ocean carrier CMA CGM has announced changes in three Mediterranean services aiming to strengthen its connections in the region.

In particular, CMA CGM – Short Sea Lines Division has confirmed the restructure of its TMX2 service, set to commence in the seventh week of 2025.

The revised service will launch from Aliaga on 12 February, focusing on trade between North Türkiye, Italy, and France, while also ensuring connections to global destinations via the Malta Hub. Additionally, the service is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating global trade for the Italian market.

The weekly service will provide a sustainable maritime link between Türkiye and the Western Mediterranean, operated by a fleet of four vessels, each with a capacity of 1,780 TEUs.

The weekly TMX2 service will sail under the following port rotation:

Aliaga (Türkiye) – Gemlik (Türkiye) – Izmit (Türkiye) – Ambarli (Türkiye) – Malta – Salerno (Italy) – Napoli (Italy) – Livorno (Italy) – La Spezia (Italy) – Genoa (Italy) – Marseille (France) – Malta – Augusta (Italy) – Aliaga.

Furthermore, CMA CGM – Short Sea Lines Division announced the launch of EGAL, a new intra-Mediterranean service set to begin in the seventh week of the year.

This weekly service will commence operations from Alexandria on 12 February, providing a direct connection between Egypt, Greece, and Algeria. Additionally, it will facilitate global connectivity from Egypt through the Malta and Piraeus hubs.

The service is designed to establish a sustainable maritime link between the Eastern Mediterranean and Annaba, while also ensuring a connection between Egypt and Greece.

The service will be operated by a fleet of four vessels, each with a capacity of 1,400 TEUs. The rotation will include Alexandria (Egypt), Piraeus (Greece), Thessaloniki (Greece), Malta, Annaba (Algeria), and back to Alexandria, with a weekly frequency.

Additionally, CMA CGM – Short Sea Lines Division announced the new setup of its intra-Med service ALGAD, also effective from week 7 of 2025. This weekly service will commence operations from Malta on 14 February, focussing on the Djen Djen market while providing global connectivity through the Malta hub and Barcelona.

Designed to establish a sustainable maritime link to Djen Djen, the service will be operated by a fleet of three vessels, each with a capacity of 1,100 TEUs. The rotation will include Malta, Barcelona (Spain), Djen Djen (Algeria), and back to Malta.
