Yokohama Port to trial advanced CONPAS system

The Port of Yokohama is set to trial a new feature of the Container Fast Pass (CONPAS) system from 17-21 February 2025, at its Minami Honmoku Pier.

This new function is aimed at improving container transport efficiency by enabling advanced checks of incoming containers’ information. The feature links CyberPort (a trade platform) with CONPAS and terminal operating systems (TOSs) to compare electronic gate-in slips with cargo information before containers arrive at terminals.

This initiative is expected to reduce the need for manual checks and paper gate-in slips, leading to smoother operations.

The trial will also serve as preparation for CONPAS’s continued roll-out. The system has already been implemented at Minami Honmoku’s container terminals, with full implementation having occurred earlier at Honmoku terminals.

In addition, plans are in place for more trials in Minami Honmoku during July and November, with full-time operations expected at BC2 Container Terminal by March 2026. This initiative is part of broader efforts, including consultations by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), to modernize and streamline port logistics through ICT.
