Operations at the Cape Town Container Terminal (CTCT) are expected to be suspended over the upcoming weekend (15-16 February) due to strong winds, as indicated in Maersk’s advisory.
“We expect no operations to happen in the Cape Town Container Terminal (CTCT) over this period,” said the Danish carrier in a statement. “We are working proactively with the terminal to align stacks based on these stoppages.”
The vessel alongside, Santa Teresa, will be impacted by this and is expected to sail late for its Europe windows, according to Maersk’s announcement. The ocean carrier noted: “We will maintain best possible transit time into Europe once it [Santa Teresa] sails (subject to weather en route).”
Maersk added there are plans for uninterrupted coverage in South Africa and Europe over the coming weeks and said it will share more on contingency plans once they are finalized.
