Swedish tanker shipping company Donsötank has marked the beginning of the construction of its second LNG dual-fuel chemical tanker at Wuhu Shipyard in China.
The start of the construction of the 22,500 dwt tanker was signaled by the steel cutting ceremony which took place on December 12, 2024, at the Chinese shipyard.
As disclosed previously, the ship will feature dual-fuel propulsion (LNG-LBG/Diesel) provided by Wärtsilä, 500 kWh battery pack, shore power connection, SCR-Catamiser, and a waste heat recovery system.
It will have a cargo capacity of 27,800 cubic meters, a length overall (LOA) of 167 meters, a beam of 26.5 meters, and a draft of 9.4 meters.
The newbuild is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2026.
With this ship, Donsötank currently has three LNG dual-fuel vessels on order at Wuhu Shipyard, including the one booked earlier this year. The remaining two ships are scheduled for deliver in the third quarter of 2025 and the third quarter of 2027.
The three newbuilds will join Prospero and Pacifico, the plugin hybrid electrical tanker duo delivered in 2021.
