The Greek Tourism Confederation (INSETE) has identified Australia and the United States as the most promising long-haul markets for Greek tourism in the next 12 months.
According to INSETE’s latest study, travelers from these two countries exhibit a stronger interest in visiting Greece compared to other major long-haul markets like China and India.
In its analysis of Greece’s appeal as a tourist destination, INSETE focused on four key markets for inbound tourism: the U.S., China, India, and Australia.
According to the findings, Greece ranks 10th in travel preferences for Australians, 13th for Americans, 32nd for Chinese travelers, and 36th for the Indian market.
Compared to 2023, Greece dropped seven spots in the Chinese market and 11 in the Indian market but gained one position in the U.S. It is worth noting, however, that in the American market, the difference in preference between Greece and the countries ranking just above it is as little as one percentage point.
When looking at the most preferred destinations in each market, geographical proximity plays a key role. American travelers favor Mexico, Canada, and the Bahamas, with Italy as their top European choice.
