A Russian Navy warship carried out artillery firing drills in the Sea of Japan, also called the East Sea, as part of planned combat training, Russian news agency Interfax reported on February 17, 2025.

According to reports, the large landing ship Admiral Nevelskoy participated in the exercises, focusing on testing air defence for a single vessel.

The crew fired artillery at a simulated aerial target as part of the drill.

Additionally, large-calibre machine guns were used to target small, manoeuvrable objects representing unmanned enemy boats.
