The average gross salary in Greece was up by 7.2% in 2024, reaching €1,342 compared to 2023, according to an annual report by the ERGANI system. Notably, the rise marks a 28.3% increase since 2019 when the average monthly gross wage amounted to €1,046.

For the first time since the ERGANI annual reports began in 2013, the majority of employees (53.7%) earn over €1,000, compared to 46.3% in 2023 and 36.3% in 2019. Full-time employment reached 76.4%, up 1.6% from 2023 and 7.2% from 2019.

In 2024, there were 312,000 more employees than in 2023, reflecting a 4.1% increase (2,390,157 workers compared to 2,296,845 in 2023). The rate of job growth doubled compared to the 2022-2023 period, with 93,312 additional workers compared to 47,246 in the previous year.

The gender employment gap narrowed to 3.7 percentage points in 2024, down from 4.08 percentage points in 2023 and 6.74 percentage points in 2019. Meanwhile, the number of employees aged 15 to 29 reached 469,634 in 2024, representing an increase of 12,137 workers (a 2.6% rise) from 2023 and 61,456 workers (a 15% rise) from 2019.
