With the commencement of operations at its new warehouse in Denain, Northern France, Maersk is now providing fulfillment services for a leading global e-commerce company. Strategically located within one of Europe’s key logistics hubs, this marks Maersk’s first warehouse in France.
The 75,000 m² facility, part of the 100,000 m² GLP Park Denain complex, is fully operational. Positioned near Lille in the Hauts-de-France region—France’s third-largest logistics employment area—it serves a population of nearly half a million within a 30-minute radius.
Michele Cohonner, Regional Head of Maersk Contract Logistics in Europe, commented: “The go-live of this new facility marks a true milestone for Maersk in France, bringing our contract logistics and warehousing capabilities in this key European market to a completely new level. We are delighted to now have our anchor customer, as we jointly develop solutions that make a difference both to them and to their end customers.”
The site is at the intersection of the A2 and A21 motorways, close to Brussels (109 km) and Paris (198 km), and adjacent to the Scheldt River Canal (Grand Canal de l’Escaut).
The warehouse, certified BREEAM Very Good, features 85 loading doors, an 11.4-meter beam height, 5 t/m² floor load capacity, and a 35-meter truck yard. It also includes an automated docking system (autodocks) and separate circulation areas for heavy and light vehicles.
With this new addition, Maersk now delivers warehousing and distribution services in 15 European countries, complementing its global network. This follows the summer 2024 launch of another facility in Fredericia, Denmark.
“We are proud to welcome such a major customer as Maersk to GLP Park Denain. This lease agreement further reinforces our commitment to investing in the Hauts-de-France region, an area we know well as it represents nearly a third of our portfolio in France,” mentioned Philippe Graziani, Country Director GLP France.
