Container News

Mukran Port has welcomed Henry Forster as the new Managing Director of Fährhafen Sassnitz GmbH, the operating company of the German port.

Ines Jesse, State Secretary from Germany’s Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Tourism, and Labor of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, stated: “The Sassnitz-Mukran Port is a strong partner in the Baltic Sea region. It plays a central role in our future strategy for the maritime economy in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the energy transition in both Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Germany. The work and dedication of everyone involved here are correspondingly important. As an installation and maintenance hub for the offshore industry, the port has been long a key location for the entire Baltic Sea region. Henry Forster brings extensive experience and expertise in the fields of energy and logistics, which are important for the port’s success. His strong connections with national and international partners promise to deliver valuable momentum for the strategic development of the port.”

The State Secretary warmly welcomed the new director in the presence of the Mukran Port employees.

“Furthermore, his expertise in business transformation will help us continue to develop our ferry port into a modern multifunctional port with associated industrial areas, thereby sustainably strengthening the Sassnitz port location and its economic significance,” commented Leon Kraeusche, Mayor and representative of Sassnitz.

Henry Forster will replace Harm Sievers, who led Mukran Port with distinction for many years before retiring in early October 2024.
