Two incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia (both CAT 3 incidents) were reported to the ReCAAP ISC. Both incidents occurred onboard ships while underway in the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the Singapore Strait (SS) on 11 Dec 2024 and 14 Dec 2024.

One incident of piracy and two incidents of armed robbery against ships in Asia were reported to the ReCAAP ISC. The incident of piracy CAT 4 occurred onboard a barge towed by a tug boat in the South China Sea on 11 Dec 2024. Two incidents of armed robbery against ships one CAT 3 and one CAT 4 occurred onboard ships while underway in the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the Singapore Strait (SS) on 17 Dec 2024 and 22 Dec 2024 respectively.

One incident of armed robbery against ships in Asia was reported to the ReCAAP ISC. The incident (CAT 2) occurred onboard a bulk carrier while underway in the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the Singapore Strait (SS) on 28 Dec 2024.

MGN 627 (M) - Guidance on Changes and Available Exemptions against Requirements Introduced by the Merchant Shipping (Safety Standards for Passenger Ships on Domestic Voyages) (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2022 (Amendment 2)

This Amendment 2 gives clarifications in the following paragraphs:
a) 2.4 on fire detection requirements.
b) 2.5 on the application of fixed firefighting requirements.

This Marine Guidance Note (MGN) provides guidance on an amendment to Annex I of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL), which prohibit ships from using, or carrying for use by the ship, heavy fuel oil when in Arctic waters.
