Continuing with investments in alternative fuels-ready bunker tankers, Italian maritime transportation group Fratelli Cosulich Group kicked off 2025 by placing another order.
On January 20, 2025, the company revealed an order for another 7,999 dwt IMO Type II chemical bunkering tanker at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipbuilding in China.
As informed, the newbuild vessel is designed to carry fuel oil, biofuels up to B100, and methanol.
The delivery of the methanol-ready vessel is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
“With this latest order, the total number of methanol-ready barges in our fleet will increase to four,” Fratelli Cosulich said in a statement.
“We strongly believe in a multi-energy future and are dedicated to staying ahead of the curve with the latest developments and technological innovations in the shipping industry.”
A year ago, Fratelli Cosulich ordered its first methanol dual-fueled chemical bunker tanker with a capacity of over 8,000 cubic meters and the ability to carry both green methanol and biofuels.
Set for delivery from Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipbuilding in the last quarter of 2025, the newbuild will be located at the Port of Singapore under a fixed-rate time charter contract with global commodities trader Trafigura.
